La vista is the word you use to refer to the faculty of sight:

tener buena/mala vista
to have good/bad eyesight
Tiene muy mala vista.
His eyesight’s very bad.

If someone loses their sight, the phrase in Spanish is perder la vista:

Perdió la vista de niño.
He lost his sight as a child.

La vista can also refer to your eyes:

Su hija tiene un problema en la vista.
Her daughter has something wrong with her eyes.
