On This Day:
Sunday May 18, 2014

This is the 138th day of the year, with 227 days remaining in 2014.

Fact of the Day: prepositions

A preposition is a word governing (and usually preceding) a noun or pronoun and expressing a relation to it. In the phrase the letter in the mailbox, the word in specifies a relation between the letter and the mailbox - a relation of position or location. Some people believe a preposition cannot end a sentence, but this is a matter of formal style rather than correct grammar. A sentence ending with a preposition is acceptable if it is clear and sounds good.
