Fact of the Day: NASCAR

NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) was formed in 1948 by Bill France, Sr. From its modest beginnings, NASCAR racing has become one of the most popular spectator sports in the world, and in 1979, the Daytona 500 became the first NASCAR race to be nationally televised from start to finish. A 500-mile NASCAR race is physically demanding, with some drivers losing up to ten pounds during the race. Richard Petty has the most NASCAR career victories, with 200 wins.
