novedoso, adjective
novel, original

The favourable connotations of novedoso are very strong. Whatever it applies to is new in a different way: it’s novel, or original.

uno de los aspectos más novedosos de este plan
one of the most novel aspects of this plan
un novedoso sistema de venta de entradas
an innovative system for selling tickets

If you want to say that something isn’t very original, you can negate novedoso with nada:

Insufla un tono gótico a esta historia nada novedoso, pero tratada come si fuera nueva.
He gives a Gothic tone to this story which is unoriginal, but treated as if it was new.
