Fact of the Day: ballet

Ballet can be described as a combination of music, dance, and mime used to tell a story. Classical ballet style developed from a form of entertainment enjoyed more than 300 years ago by the royal families of Europe, and the original French names for most of the steps and jumps are still in use today. The art of planning each step and movement of a performance is called choreography. Many dancers study classical ballet and supplement it with modern styles.
