Spanish often respells words it’s borrowed from English to represent how Spanish-speakers say them, and el cóctel is an example.

Es mi cóctel preferido.
It’s my favourite cocktail.

Spanish uses cóctel in the same way as English to denote a dangerous mixture of chemicals, such as drugs:

los cócteles de fármacos que actualmente se aplican
the cocktails of drugs which are currenty being applied

From cóctel derive the words un coctelero, a cocktail waiter, and una coctelería, a cocktail bar.
