susto, noun
fright, shock

If something gives you or somebody else a fright, susto is the word you need.

¡Vaya susto!
What a fright!
Nos dio un susto.
It gave us a fright.

When you get a fright, the verbs that you use are pegarse and llevarse:

Se pegó or se llevó un susto cuando nos vio aparecer.
She got a fright or a shock when she saw us appear.
