On This Day:
Thursday January 30, 2014

This is the 30th day of the year, with 335 days remaining in 2014.

Fact of the Day: angle

An angle is defined as the indefinite space between two touching lines or planes, the shape of which depends on the degree of inclination of the two lines to each other or of one line to a horizontal or vertical baseline. Angles are important in geometry and trigonometry. To measure an angle, a circle centered at the vertex is drawn. The 'radian measure' of the angle is the length of the arc cut out by the angle, divided by the circle's radius. The 'degree measure' of the angle is the length of the arc divided by the circumference of the circle and multiplied by 360. A right angle has a measure of 90° and a straight angle has a measure of 180°. An acute angle measures less than 90°, while an obtuse angle has a measure between 90° and 180°.
