Fact of the Day: Lesley Visser Female television sportscaster and journalist Lesley Visser was the first woman to be honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Visser has many firsts associated with her name. She became the first female beat writer to cover the NFL in 1976. She was also the first woman to appear on ABC's Monday Night Football, the first woman assigned to a Super Bowl sideline, and the first woman to handle a Super Bowl Trophy presentation. She is also the only sportscaster so far, male or female, to have worked on the network broadcast of the Final Four, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Triple Crown, the Olympics, the U.S. Open (tennis), and the World Figure Skating Championships.
