molestar, verb
to mind

To ask for permission to do something which you know the other person may object to, you can use molestar in the third person - molesta - and the appropriate personal pronoun, such as te, le and so forth, followed by si, if.

¿Te molesta si fumo?
Do you mind if I smoke?
¿Les molesta si fumo?
Do you mind if I smoke?

You can also use molestar to ask someone politely to do something by making a request and then adding si no le etc molesta.

¿Puede cerrar la ventanilla? si no le molesta.
Would you mind closing the window?
¿Podemos cambiar de butaca? si no le molesta.
Would you mind swapping seats?
