explicarse, verb
to express yourself, to explain (yourself)

Being able to express or explain yourself is very important in life, and explicarse is the verb that applies when you're trying to do just that.

Se explica con mucha claridad.
He expresses himself very clearly.
No sé si me explico. Lo que quiero decir es que ...
I'm not sure I'm making myself clear. What I mean is that ...

In Latin American countries you use explicarse to make sure that someone has understood the message you are trying to put across.

¿Me explico?
Is that clear? or Do you understand what I mean?

Using ¿Me entiende(s)? in that situation will be considered insulting to the other person's intelligence!
