On This Day:
Saturday December 6, 2014

This is the 340th day of the year, with 25 days remaining in 2014.

Fact of the Day: worms

Worms don't have eyes, so they feel their way around. They move very slowly, so they don't get hurt if they bump into something. They do have light-sensitive organs on their heads and tails to detect harsh sunlight that would dry them out. When they sense bright light, they retreat back underground.

Holidays

Finland: National Day (independence from Russia, 1917).
Feast day of St. Gertrude the Elder, St. Abraham of Kratia, St. Nicholas of Bari, St. Asella, and Saints Dionysia, Majoricus and their Companions.

Europe: St. Nicholas Day.
