loud

We’ve already seen alto in the meanings of tall and high.

Es un chico muy alto.
He’s a very tall boy.

You can also use it to refer to sounds, to convey the idea of loud:

Pon la radio más alta.
Turn the radio up.
Habla siempre muy alto.
She always talks very loud.

En voz alta is the phrase you need to talk about saying or reading something aloud, or out loud.

“Buenas noches, jefe”, dijo en voz alta.
Goodnight, boss, he said out loud.
