reponer, verb
to replace; to repay

You’ve recently seen poner as the basic verb for to put something somewhere. Derived from it is reponer, which means to replace something.

Hicieron un préstamo a los trabajadores para reponer las pertenencias perdidas en la inundación.
They gave loans to the workers to replace the belongings they lost in the flood.
Había olvidado reponer el jabón en el baño.
He’d forgotten to replace the soap in the bathroom.

In the reflexive form, it means to get better, or to recover from an illness or other trouble.

Se repone de sus heridas.
He’s recovering from his injuries.
