padecer, verb
to suffer from

If someone has an ongoing illness or condition, you talk about it using the verb padecer. Remember that you conjugate padecer like conocer, and that unlike English suffer, you don’t need to put a preposition after it.

Padezco la enfermedad de colon irritado.
I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome.
Padece cancer.
He’s suffering from cancer.
