On This Day:
Sunday January 4, 2015

This is the 4th day of the year, with 361 days remaining in 2015.

Fact of the Day: consciousness

The unconscious is a term for the thought process in which beliefs, sensations, and desires are not organized into conscious perceptions. There is no awareness of these unconscious thoughts. Subconscious thoughts lie closer to the conscious mind. These thoughts can be brought to the surface relatively easily. They are not necessarily repressed, but have gone unnoticed. Sigmund Freud called these "preconscious" and said that the material could be voluntarily recalled under certain conditions.
