Dicen que el estudio desarrolla la mente.
Studying is said to develop the mind.

With nouns relating to doing something, such as actividad, trabajo, labor, proyecto, desarrollar translates as to carry out:

Desarrollará su actividad en cuatro áreas.
He’ll carry out his activity in four areas.

La Unicef desarrolla una labor importante.
Unicef carries out important work.

Remember there are two letter ‘r’s and two letter ‘l’s in desarrollar.
