end

El fin is the most common word for the end of something.

Fue el fin de una era.
It was the end of an era.
Si esto ocurre, no será el fin del mundo.
If that happens, it won’t be the end of the world.

One of the most common phrases you’ll find it in is el fin de semana, the weekend:

El primer fin de semana de julio
the first weekend in July

It’s also used to talk about New Year’s Eve, el fin de año:

¿Qué hacen para fin de año?
What are you doing over New Year?
