Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

bajar, verb
to go down; to come down

Like many Spanish words, bajar conveys the meaning of two English words. It covers both to go down and to come down.

Bajó la escalera muy despacio.
He went down the stairs very slowly.
Baja y ayúdame.
Come down and help me.

Apart from those literal meanings referring to physical movement, bajar can also refer to non-literal movement:

Han bajado mucho los precios.
Prices have come down a lot.
Ha bajado mucho en mi estima.
He’s gone down a lot in my estimation.
