Fact of the Day: balloons

In blowing up a balloon, you force millions of air molecules into a small space. When the balloon breaks, these molecules burst out and bump the air molecules in the room. A chain reaction of this bumping goes to your ears, causing strong vibrations. You hear the vibrations as a "bang".
