lower; inferior

Like many Spanish words, inferior conveys the meaning of two English words. In the literal sense, it means lower:

en la parte inferior de la pierna
on the lower part of the leg
Tenía el labio inferior hinchado.
His lower lip was swollen.
Las temperaturas han sido inferiores a lo normal.
Temperatures have been lower than normal.

Inferior can also mean inferior:

de calidad inferior
of inferior quality
