Antiguo has many shades of meaning. One core meaning is that something is old:

Este reloj es muy antiguo.
This clock is very old.

If a piece of furniture, a picture, and so forth, is antiguo and of some value, it’s antique:

una tienda que vende muebles antiguos
a shop selling antique furniture

Your antiguos amigos or antiguas amigas are your old friends. Related to this meaning of antiguo is the idea of somebody or something no longer being what they were, being former:

el antiguo propietario
the former owner
el antiguo cuartel de la policía
the former police headquarters
