secar, verb
to dry

We’ve already come across seco, dry, and secar, to dry, is its related verb.

¿Has secado bien los platos?
Have you dried the dishes properly?

If you are drying yourself after a shower, swim, and so on, you use the reflexive secarse:

Sécate con esta toalla.
Dry yourself with this towel.

If you are drying a part of you, such as your hair, you also use the reflexive secarse. Notice that you use the article, unlike English, before the part of you in question.

Voy a secarme EL pelo.
I’m going to dry my hair.

Finally, reflexive secarse expresses the idea of anything drying up or drying out.

Se han secado las plantas.
The plants have dried up.
