If you happen to need a filling in a tooth in Spain and some parts of Latin America, the word you need is el empaste. Me tienen que hacer un empaste. I’ve got to have a filling. But in Mexico and Chile the word you need is la tapadura, from the verb tapar, to cover. And in Argentina, the word you need is la emplomadura.
