Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

agradar, verb
to like

You’ll know that a basic word for to like is gustar.

No me gusta la carne.
I don’t like meat.

Agradar works in a similar way, with what you like as the subject of the sentence. But it is more formal or literary, and more restricted than gustar, and is often used in the negative.

No le agradaba la disciplina.
He didn’t like the discipline.

You often use it in the conditional:

No me agradaría nada tener que volver.
I shouldn’t at all like having to go back.
