in spite of

You use pesar in the phrase a pesar de in spite of:

A pesar del mal tiempo se divirtieron.
They enjoyed themselves in spite of the bad weather.
A pesar de todo el dinero no llegó.
In spite of or despite everything, the money hasn’t arrived.

You can use a pesar de followed by que and a verb in the indicative to mean even though:

A pesar de que la quiero.
Even though I love her, Despite the fact that I love her.
