Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

urgir, verb
to be urgent

In more formal contexts, to say that something is urgent, Spanish can use the verb urgir.

Urge el dinero.
The money is required urgently.

Urgir can be used with a person as the indirect object:

Me urgía aprovechar mi oportunidad.
It was urgent for me I or I was in a hurry to exploit the opportunity I had.

Urgir also has he meaning of to urge somebody to do something, in which case you put a and the infinitive after it:

Urgieron al gobierno a reaccionar.
They urged the government to react.
