Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

pues, conjunction
then; well

Learning to speak Spanish isn't just about getting the grammar and vocab right. You also need to have linking words, such as then, so, and so forth, and that's where pues comes in handy.
You can use it to suggest that one thing follows logically from another:

Tengo sueño - ¡Pues vete a la cama!
I'm tired - Then go to bed!
No resulta claro, pues, si nos apoya o no.
So it's not clear, then, if she supports us or not.

It's often used in the phrase así pues, so then:

Así pues, ¿que no te gusta?
So then, don't you like it?

And with the verb mirar:

Pues mire le voy a decir la verdad.
Well, look, I'm going to be honest with you.
Pues mira... no sabría... qué decirte...
Well, look, I don't know what to say to you.
