to stop doing

When you stop doing something, especially a bad habit, dejar de is a useful phrase.

He dejado de fumar.
I’ve stopped smoking.

You also use dejar de in other situations.

Saldremos cuando deje* de llover.
We’ll go out when it stops raining.
¡Deja de hacer eso!
Stop doing that!
