Afortunado is a key word for lucky:

He sido muy afortunado pudiendo hacer algo que me gusta y que creo que hago bien.

You can create the opposite of afortunado using poco:

El proyecto contenía términos poco afortunados.
The report contained unfortunate terms.

Deriving from afortunado is the very commonly used afortunadamente, fortunately, or luckily.

Fortunately it didn't rain in Rouen yesterday.
