	Spanish Word of the Day Friday, June 5, 2015 Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help lazo, noun bow, knot, ribbon, lasso American English has borrowed many words from Spanish. Many of the borrowed words appear in cowboy language, being corruptions of Spanish words used by the original cowboys, los vaqueros (literally, cowmen). The word lasso, the rope used by cowboys, has its roots in the Spanish word lazo.
