Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

punto, noun
point

In an earlier Word of the Day we saw estar a punto de hacer to be about to do.

Es que estoy a punto de salir.
I’m just on my way out.

El punto also has the basic meaning of a point in sports ...

Perdieron por tres puntos.
They lost by three points.

... and of a point in the abstract sense:

Ése es un punto importante.
That’s an important point.

A very common phrase in this meaning is punto de vista, point of view.

desde mi punto de vista
from my point of view
