Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

pedir, verb
to order

Apart from meaning to ask for something, pedir also means to order something. It is a very useful word in restaurants, cafes and bars. When you’re ready to order, you can say:

Quisiera pedir.
I’m ready to order.
Quisiéramos pedir.
We’re ready to order.

When the waiter brings things, he might need to ask:

¿Quién pidio la sopa?
Who ordered the soup?

If your order is slow to come, you might need to remind the waiter:

Hemos pedido dos cafés y un té.
We ordered two coffees and a tea.
