On This Day:
Monday November 25, 2013

This is the 329th day of the year, with 36 days remaining in 2013.

Fact of the Day: river types

A river is a natural channel in which water flows downhill. Typically it begins high in the mountains and, as it runs downhill, is joined by more rainwater and swells first into a stream and then into a river. Rivers can be categorized into three types: perennial (water flows year round), seasonal (water flows only part of the year), and ephemeral (usually dry). The Nile is the longest river in the world, covering a distance of 4,132 miles.
