the same

The core meaning of igual as an adjective is the same:

Todas las casas son iguales.
All the houses are the same.

When you want to compare things, you can use igual followed by a or que:

El vestido es igual al que compraste el año pasado.
The dress is the same as the one you bought last year.
Tengo una falda igual que la tuya.
I've got a skirt just like yours or the same as yours.

Family members often resemble one another, and when they're really alike you can use igual, or the diminutive igualito.

Es igual que su madre.
She looks just like her mother.
Las dos hermanas son igualitas.
The two sisters are the spitting image of one another.
