Yesterday's Word - Previous Words - Help

mil, adjective, pronoun
a thousand

In English we often use numbers in a non-literal way, as in 'I've told you dozens of times', just to mean a large but imprecise number. Spanish uses mil a thousand in a similar way in some idiomatic expressions.

Ya te lo he dicho mil veces
I've already told you dozens of times
Este modelo es mil veces mejor que el otro
This model is a thousand times better than the other one

The phrase mil perdones (word for word, a thousand pardons) is used when you really want to apologize profusely:

Nos pidió mil perdones por llegar tan tarde
He apologized profusely for arriving so late
