consistir, verb
to consist of; to involve, to entail
Even with apparently simple verbs such as consistir, which are very similar to their English cousins, there are still things you need to look out for. In this case, the preposition used is rather different from the English one: consistir en to consist of.
El menú consiste en tres platos.
The menu consists of three courses.
Consistir can be translated in other ways than consist, as in the following examples:
¿En qué consiste su trabajo?
What does your job involve?
Su estrategia consistía en borrarlos del mapa.
His strategy entailed wiping them off the map.
